SIMON Cowell has admitted that he is a fan of MTV’s Jersey Shore and has said that the show inspired him to take The X Factor USA to New Jersey.
Cowell described the reality series as ‘genius’, and said that he hoped to find some similar star potential at the recent New Jersey auditions.
“Whether you like the show or not, these kids are suddenly big, big stars,” Cowell told MTV News. “They just make me laugh.”
Cowell revealed that his favourite Jersey Shore cast member is 23-year-old Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi. “So that was the reason why I came to New Jersey,” Cowell continued. “I wanted to find the next Snooki.”
The music mogul added that he had found the sort of attitude he was looking for in the form of 14-year-old Brooklyn auditionee Brian Bradley, who received four yeses to advance to the show’s Boot Camp stage.
Cowell recently admitted that he encourages contestants on The X Factor to be competitive with each other.
