Gulf Weekly Entertaining encounter

IT was yet another intense set of matches for the Arsenal Soccer School Bahrain Ladies League filled with thrills and exciting action. The confident St Christopher’s Seniors rested last week but are looking set take the coveted Gulf Weekly Premiership Trophy … although there are still points to be played for.

Cup Champions Joga Bonito and Arsenal Blue put on an entertaining encounter for the crowd of supporters. Joga’s captain and forward Alaa Al Darazi took her goal neatly before Arsenal’s forward Nicole Moir fired home an equaliser in the second quarter of the game.

The game continued at a good pace with both teams creating chances and in the last few minutes a hand ball gave Arsenal Blue a penalty which midfielder Rama Salem smashed home to seal a 2-1 victory.

The encounter between Arsenal Red between St Christopher’s Intermediate Girls was also a close affair. The Reds made a breakthrough early on in the game with a nice finish from striker Wafa Obidat.  Fellow forward Reema Alqassab also bagged a goal putting Arsenal two ahead and in control. However, St Chris, a young side improving week by week, grabbed a goal back through forward Tamara Noor. This set up a frantic finish but Arsenal Red held on to gain all three valuable points placing them third in the league table.

In the final match the U16 National Team scored three times against Eastern Flames to pick up the points after a heavy defeat the week before.

They took the lead through forward Hessa Al Zayani and goals from wingers Noor Ali and Noor Anwar put the match beyond the Flames.
