Two of Italy’s most famous automotive brands have made their debut in the kingdom following a launch held at Behbehani Brothers offices in Sitra.
Bahrain’s Fiat and Alfa Romeo dealer, unveiled the Fiat 500, Fiat 500 by Gucci, Fiat Linea, Fiat Fiorino at a ceremony held in the presence of Italian Ambassador Enrico Padula.
The Gucci is a designer collaboration which its makers believe will prove a hit with fashionistas living in the kingdom already in love with Italian style. The special edition, which comes in glossy black and white, marries the design ethos of two of Italy’s most historical brands.
Complementing the car is an exclusive ‘Fiat 500 by Gucci’ collection of travel accessories, leather goods, track suits, driving accessories and sunglasses, all of which will be available in selected Gucci stores and on gucci.com starting this April.
Mr Padula said: “Obviously there are other, high-end Italian cars in Bahrain such as Ferrari and Maserati but there were no mid-market Italian cars, which seemed strange to me.
“I am very happy that these iconic brands have finally made it to Bahrain. They have a long tradition of fine craftsmanship and history and I’m sure they will do very well in the kingdom.
“The Gucci model is a collaboration of design and style that exemplifies Italian creativity and character.”
Peter Green, general manager of Behbehani Brothers, said: “It is our commitment to quality throughout our organisation that has enhanced our reputation and enabled us to acquire new brands to be introduced in the kingdom.
“To be selected by Fiat and Alfa Romeo as their preferred partners is both an honour and a reflection of our continuous efforts to exceed our customers’ expectations.”
While it was officially launched, the Alfa Romeo Mito was absent at the ceremony as it is currently awaiting a GSO rating, which is expected in March.
