Bahrain’s race ace Raed Raffii is thrilled to be part of the racing support acts taking place over the forthcoming Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix racing weekend.
The 23-year-old from Sanad, who stars in the Viva Racing Team, said: ìIt’s true what they say that you don’t realise what you have got until it’s gone and that was the case when we lost F1 last year. Now, the fans are hungrier than ever and I expect people will be flying in from all over to watch the main event and the support races in Bahrain.
"F1 will not only bring people together but it will boost our beautiful kingdom from a tourism perspective and economically, and we need that right now."
Raffii, who has more than 12 years racing experience under his belt, has been turning heads with his recent performances in the 2011/2012 WGA Supercars Championship clinching two wins and two pole positions.
The WGA Supercars Championship will be staging its sixth and final round over the race weekend which takes place on April 20-22.
Raffii, who works for telecom company VIVA Bahrain as a roaming and interconnection analyst, added: "WGA is in its fifth year and every season it is improving, so for this series to be supporting such a major international event is amazing and will surely give it the extra exposure that it deserves.
"It is also a great opportunity for VIVA to be exposed in the biggest event in Bahrain. We will have people from around the world cheering us on and as a competitive team this will give us an even bigger boost to perform.
ìAs drivers, we are excited to be on the same track used by experienced F1 racers which is an incredible feeling to have."
