Ten Canoes
Directors: Rolf de Heer and Peter Djigirr
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Starring: Crusoe Kurddal, Jamie Gulpilil, Yeeralparil Richard Birrinbirrin, Peter Minygululu and Frances Djulibing
Story: Minygululu has three wives and realises that his younger brother Dayindi may try to steal away the youngest wife. So, over a few days and several trips to hunt and gather bark, Minygululu tells Dayindi a story set in the time of their ancestors about a warrior who finds that his brother has become a rival for the affections of his bride. However, while Minygululu’s story caries a clear message for his brother, it also goes on long enough with enough twists, turns, and digressions that it gives Dayindi little opportunity to get up to mischief. Following opera singer Andrea Bocelli’s sell-out date in Bahrain, US pop diva Madonna has followed suit by selling out her show in Abu Dhabi.

After a series of one-day sell-outs on the rest of her world tour at venues in North America and Europe, organisers announced an overwhelming response too for her concert in Abu Dhabi on June 3, at the Yas Arena on Yas Island.

Mira Sadek from FLASH Entertainment said: “The Abu Dhabi show marks the first time Madonna has performed in the region. We knew from the day we announced the show that tickets were sure to sell-out extremely quickly.

“But her fan reaction has been overwhelming and with an immediate sell-out, Madonna’s show in Abu Dhabi now holds the record for the most popular event we have ever staged. This is an exciting time for us in the region.”

Bocelli’s tickets were also snapped up within hours of going on sale.
