A skirmish has already broken out in the US between The X Factor, American Idol and The Voice.

The Voice is increasing in popularity, at the expense of both American Idol and Simon Cowell’s X Factor. In fact, the X Factor’s performance in the US ratings was troubling enough to force producers to overhaul the show, firing judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger as well as host Steve Jones, according to MTV News.

American Idol has also reportedly seen a significant drop-off in its ratings. And the reason behind all this talent tension is The Voice, starring Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton – which is trouncing the competition in the ratings with its unique blind-audition, chair-spinning format.

So, will we see a repeat of The Voice’s success elsewhere? The X Factor has been top of the TV talent show tree in the UK for eight series now.

The Voice UK is rumoured to start on BBC One on March 24 and will be later shown on its international BBC Entertainment channel available in Bahrain on OSN.

The Voice UK aims to find an outstanding singing talent in three gruelling stages: a blind audition, a battle phase and live performance shows.

The four judges – legendary singer Tom Jones, The Script frontman Danny O’Donoghue, Jessie J and Will.i.am – will choose teams of contestants from a blind audition process, designed to showcase the auditionees’ voices, rather than their looks.

Holly Willoughby and Reggie Yates will host the show, interview the warbling hopefuls and ask the opinions of the celebrity coaching panel.

The singers who make it past the first round will then be mentored and developed by their coach, before being pitted against each other by singing the same song – with the coach choosing which of them will advance to the next stage.

But will The Voice UK be any match for TV talent behemoth the X Factor?
