The new Nissan Micra hatchback was unveiled in a spectrum of colours at Seef Mall, writes Charlie Holding.

The launch by Y K Almoayyed & Sons, the brand’s distributor, took place in the presence of company officials and motoring enthusiasts who gathered to enjoy a laser music show and DJ, and get a look at the new model last weekend.

Y K Almoayyed & Sons Automotive Group general manager, Declan John McClusky, said: “The Micra, with its sporty and trendy exterior, has a unique character that appeals to young and old alike.

“This car is fun and stylish. In addition to its slick looks, it also boasts a high level of performance within its class, which makes for an attractive combination,”

The compact city car has already gained favour, especially among young professionals looking for a vehicle that expresses personality and individuality, its makers say.

During the launch, representatives from Y K Almoayyed & Sons and Nissan sported multi-coloured T-shirts bearing the slogan ‘colour your world’ in homage to the new model’s 10 colour schemes including three specialised designs: Spring Green, Night Veil Purple and Sunlight Orange.

The new 2012 Micra boasts a 1.5-litre engine, a range of safety features and versatile interior seat/stowage configurations.

Its makers say it has also been engineered to provide the driver with nimble handling and a best-in-class turning circle, making it ideal for driving around Manama.

The Micra starts at BD4,595. For more information call 17732732.
