Gulf Weekly MBC signs deal to broadcast four popular Turkish series

O3 Productions, which is part of MBC Group, has recently signed a new contract with ITV Turkey to broadcast four new popular Turkish series.

The agreement includes airing Araf Zamani (The Compromise), Dinle Sevgili (Listen to Your Heart), Lale Devri (The Tulip Age) and Yer Gok Ask (Love is in the Air). All these programmes will be dubbed into Arabic from Turkish.

With the increase in popularity in Turkish TV series in Arab households, the demand has increased, especially with the decreasing output of two important production cities, Cairo and Damascus, due to the political unrest last year.

Fadi Ismail, general manager of O3 Productions, said: “We are always seeking opportunities that reach out to our broad audience base, while keeping in mind their need for upbeat and new content. During MIPTV (a gathering for all TV and media representatives), we were able to find fresh and interesting material.”

He further added that negotiations to acquire series from Latin America as well as sell historical Arabic drama series to other countries are in the works as O3 Productions is working toward the growth of the TV market in the Middle East and North Africa region.
