‘Here’s Johnny!’ and he could be hitting the big-screen worldwide once again.

Warner Bros Entertainment is considering a prequel to the iconic Stanley Kubrick horror film The Shining.

A source has announced that the studio has enlisted a team of Hollywood producers to come up with a new spin on the 1980 original starring Jack Nicholson as the crazed Jack Torrance.

Laeta Kalogridis, known for Shutter Island and Avatar, is one of the rumoured names to take the position of writer-producer of the film.

The prequel would centre on events leading up to the arrival of Jack Torrance, his wife and his psychic five-year-old son at the haunted hotel that eventually sends him into madness.

Written and directed by Kubrick, the original film is based on Stephen King’s classic novel.

King is currently writing a follow up, Dr Sleep, which follows Torrance’s son Danny decades after the events of The Shining.
