ACCLAIMED jewellery designer Bina Goenka is flying into Bahrain to save clients from having to travel to India to choose a prize piece.

Her exclusive clientele includes Bollywood royalty, music industry executives, dignitaries and Mumbai’s affluent glitterati but to cater for the high demand she has now extended her ‘by appointment only’ services to this region.

“I design for the confident woman who knows what she wants. She is never a fashion victim, rather a trendsetter,” Bina said. “Her jewellery never shouts, just quietly underlines her unique personality and complements her lifestyle.”

One unique item made for the Gulf is a white diamond and yellow gold choker-style necklace. The stunning creation is studded with 38.82ct colour round diamonds which are embedded in 18-carat yellow gold. The necklace costs more than BD40,000.

The founder of the Bina Goenka brand of uber-luxurious jewellery hones her design talents to create fusion ranges of visually-stunning statement pieces, each akin to miniature works of modern art, designed to tantalise the senses and wrap the wearer in sheer indulgent decadence.

With more than 15 years of experience in jewellery design and manufacturing, Bina’s designs are now worn by people from different cultures, across the world.

The mother-of-two – her daughter Avanti, 19, is studying finance in London and her son Yash, 25, is an established realtor in India – designs jewellery for all occasions, from engagements and weddings to timeless gifts and heirlooms.

Her pieces are made from pure gold and white gold, all infused with precious stones. Flawless jewellery is sculpted to create a tempting array of precious pendants, necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings, anklets and wedding jewellery.

Each handcrafted piece of jewellery is individual to its buyer and retails from BD1,800 to BD74,000. Bringing a personalised touch to her brand, Bina extends an interactive, by-appointment-only service to all her prime clientele, and often makes visits to them to showcase her ranges and to create bespoke items for

She added that the Middle Eastern client had a preference for bold, opulent jewellery steeped in cutting-edge design and her line had been received ‘extremely well in the market by a sizable client base in the area’. “We are at a juncture where we are expanding further in the market,” said Bina who first came to international prominence in 2007 when she opened her flagship store in India’s trend capital, Mumbai, and positioned it in the ultra-chic Grand Hyatt Plaza Hotel.
