Actor Channing Tatum is interested in stepping behind the camera to direct a sequel to his movie Magic Mike.
The 32-year-old actor is apparently in the running to direct the film alongside the original director Steven Soderbergh’s long-term producer Reid Carolin.
The proposed sequel is rumoured to follow a road trip movie format which see the star take to the road with his cohorts.
“You know, we are talking a lot about it. We have a story, and it is really ridiculous and fun,” said Tatum about the story ideas for the sequel. “It’s a road movie sort of thing, where a bunch of strippers get back together. It’s more of a broad comedy. I don’t know whether it will happen or not.”
The original Magic Mike is loosely based on Tatum’s actual experience as a male exotic dancer and though no production schedule or release date for Magic Mike 2 has been mentioned, Tatum is currently in the process of making the movie into a Broadway stage show.
