CHAMPIONS Bahrain Cricket Club (BCC) take on Indian Club in a Premier League Group A match at the BCC ground as the Bahrain Cricket Association (BCA) season 2012-2013 begins with the 25 overs league-cum-knockout tournament at 12.45pm on Friday at various venues across the kingdom.
A total of 23 teams have registered for the Premier and Corporate leagues – 12 in the former and 11 in the latter.
The season consists of T20, Pro25, Pro30 & Pro40 tournaments as well as the National Day and five-nation tournaments. The top teams from the country will be vying for cash prizes and trophies.
In the Corporate League 20 over league-cum-knockout tournament, champions DHL clash with Budaiya Warriors at the Pakistan ground starting at 8am, also on Friday.
The organisers claim that last year’s experiment with the pink ball and coloured kit was an unprecedented success and will be continued this season.
BCA senior board member Aref Sadeq said: 'Board members have vowed to improve the quality of cricket and take the game to another level. They are also thankful for the support of the tournament committee which consists of Vijay Sailor, Yaser Sadeq, Rizwan Shah and Billal.'
