UK singer Rita to debut on small-screen in hit US series

Reaching the number one spot in the UK music charts singer Rita Ora is now making her debut on the small screen as she signs on to star in the iconic US series 90210.

The singer-songwriter instantly rose to fame in the UK earlier this year and appeared on The X Factor UK in August as a guest judge on the panel during the audition period. However, she is yet to duplicate the same success in the US.

In a bid to ensure her album gets as much attention as possible, the 21-year-old star is set to play herself on the hit US show.

Ora recently confirmed on PerezHilton.com that she will only be featured in one episode, with a musical performance, which will be aired sometime in January 2013.

In 2012, Ora released her debut album entitled Ora, which debuted at number one in the UK. It also spawned three number-one singles: Hot Right Now, How We Do (Party) and R.I.P. which made Ora the first artist this year to have three consecutive number one singles on the UK Singles Chart.

90210 aired its first episode of its fifth season in the US earlier this week.
