THE midway point of the GulfWeekly-sponsored Arsenal Soccer School Bahrain Ladies League was reached with yet another surprise result.
Bottom-of-the-table St Christopher’s School beat top-of-the-table Arsenal Red 3-2.
This was the fallen champions first win of the season. The St Chris girls triumphed in a tight encounter with two goals by Millie Gallagher and one from Tamara Kawash, whilst the Reds replied through Reema Al Gassab and Lamees Saqqa.
Another team recording their first victory was Venus, who, in another close affair, pipped Eastern Flames 2-1. Fatiha Amozlouf scored a brace for Venus, with the single reply from the girls from Saudi Arabia coming from Leah Montenegro.
In the third game of the evening, Arsenal Yellow regained the top spot in convincing fashion with a goal-scoring bonanza beating Joga Bonito 7-2.
The damage was done by Samantha Turner with a sensational six strikes and young Kia Hanahoe keeping her scoring run going. The Joga goals came from Eman Ebrahim and Layla Sayed Hussain.
The league resumes on Monday with Arsenal Yellow facing Venus, Joga Bonito matched up against St Chris, and the Reds trying to regain the top spot when they play the Flames.
