FAROOQ Ahmed led the field with a fantastic 46 points to win the recent Awali Golf Club Stableford, three points ahead of runner-up Peter O’Brien.
The rest of the 70-strong field followed on with David Turner (42), Peter Rogers (41), Ali Danesh (41) and Yvonne Newall (41 points, gross 79) --– this being Yvonne’s first sub-80 round.
Peter Rogers achieved a score of gross-74, beating his age by one stroke. Shooting your age, or better, is a rare achievement amongst amateur players, and a special prize was awarded to him for his great play, and it is hoped that he manages to achieve this feat for many more years to come.
