Speculation of a new Friday Night Lights movie has been circulating for years since the superlative series ended, but star of the sitcom Kyle Chandler, pictured right, spoiled the party by suggesting he wouldn’t want to return.

Chandler played the loved coach Eric Taylor in the well-received show that ran for five series before coming to an end in 2011. However, he suggests there’s no more of the story left to tell.

He said: "My general attitude about Friday Night Lights is, it was a great movie with Billy Bob Thornton. It was a great TV show. I never had more fun doing anything. But they ended it at exactly the right time, and exactly the right way as well."

Film director and developer of the show Peter Berg has long expressed an enthusiasm for the idea, but to have to recast his leading man might be too much for his audience to accept.
Still, should he present Chandler with a genuinely compelling script, this may all change again. However, it seems as though a FNL box-set will have to keep the fans going for the immediate future.
