Gulf Weekly Quieter and more economical pick-up truck hits roads

The new Isuzu D-Max pick-up truck was recently unveiled at a swanky ceremony at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC).

The launch, by Isuzu and Motorcity, the marque’s distributor in the kingdom, was attended by brand officials, invited guests and the media.

Members of the press were invited to test the model’s impressive capabilities around the BIC’s off-road track.

Isuzu Motors assistant general manager Akira Odagaki said: "With the huge success of the new Isuzu D-Max in Far East, Australia and Europe, Isuzu is proud to launch the GCC version and Motorcity is the first dealer to launch the new pickup in the Gulf region.

"With a wide product range, strong dealer facility and network, Isuzu is confident of enhancing their market share considerably with the introduction of the new generation models in Bahrain and the GCC."

Equipped with a Turbo diesel engine, the Isuzu D-Max is available in three grades, basic, mid and LS, and in three engine options, the 2.5-litre, 80PS at 3800 rpm, the 2.5L, 110PS at 3400 rpm intercooled common rail engine and the 3.0L, 136PS at 3400 rpm intercooled engine with flat torque performance.

The new chassis provides better balance and performance, delivering superior stability and road holding in all conditions, available with a larger and stronger rear tray and 4x4 electronic shift on-the-fly, its makers say.

The sleek and aerodynamic exterior reflects the designers’ efforts. Isuzu designers conducted extensive wind tunnel testing around the world, to create a quieter and more economical pick-up truck.

Thanks to its longer, wider and taller body, the new model boasts a spacious interior to maximise driver and passengers’ comfort.

The new model boasts the latest technologies and innovations including electroluminescent instruments, climate-control air conditioner and keyless entry, which are some of the options available in the LS grade.

Safety is a priority, and the D-Max boasts SRS airbags with pre-tensioning seatbelts, an energy absorbing nose section, and side impact anti-intrusion bars in the LS grade. A newly engineered cabin shell constructed from high tensile steel for increased strength and rigidity gives even greater safety to all passengers.

In addition, the LS grade features an Antilock Brake System with Electronic Brake force Distribution and Brake Assist as well as new projector headlamps and LED rear combination-lamps for maximum visibility.

Prices start from BD6,850.
