Since childhood it has been drilled into my mind by my parents and teachers that littering is bad, something that would seem like common sense to most people now. However, I frequently see people casually throwing litter from their cars onto the roads without a second thought to where it might end up.
And it is not just a specific age group or nationality that I see doing this either. From school buses returning home to a car full of adults on their way to work; I have seen somebody from all of these vehicles dumping their rubbish.
Luckily, it is only a small minority of the population that do this. In fact, recycling is becoming more and more a part of everyday life in Bahrain, with many recycling bins conveniently located around the country for people to take their recyclable rubbish.
People should be proud of the country they call home and take care of its appearance. To see people callously littering its roads with waste seems like an insult when there is almost definitely a bin at the end of every car’s destination.
