With Sharon Osbourne out, Mel B is ready to ‘spice’ up the America’s Got Talent judging panel this summer.
The 37-year-old former Spice Girl, known by the nickname Scary Spice, will replace Osbourne who quit the series following a dispute with NBC over their decision to drop her son Jack from another reality show.
Mel B will join ‘shock jock’ Howard Stern, who has agreed to return for his second season, and comedian Howie Mandel.
Paul Telegdy, NBC president of alternative programming, said: “This exciting addition of the dynamic Mel B to our line-up of judges promises that fans will see a strong, talented and opinionated woman match up against our equally outspoken judges Howard Stern and Howie Mandel.
“She’s an amazing singer, dancer and a huge personality. The contestants will get a lot of constructive feedback from her.”
Mel B said she was thrilled to join the talent show, adding: “It’s so exciting to be bringing some girl power to the panel!”
The singer recently finished a two-season stint as a judge on The X Factor UK, which, like America’s Got Talent, was created by British entrepreneur Simon Cowell.
Auditions for the new season of America’s Got Talent started last week in New Orleans with the show airing in September.
