Costa Coffee has opened its first drive-thru and dine-in store in the Middle East near a busy university in Bahrain.
The new outlet in Salmabad, between AMA University and Salmabad Petrol Station, was opened by Jawad Business Group which runs the British brand’s franchise in the kingdom.
The first Costa Coffee drive-thru in the kingdom offers customers the chance to choose their drink from the comfort of their own car, as well as the option of going in-store to relax.
Marketing manager Safi Faruqui, said: “Salmabad is an up-and-coming area and Costa Coffee is now located right by the university as well as a busy petrol station so many people are ‘on-the-go’ in the area and in need of refreshment.
“The drive-thru option gives customers the opportunity to pick up their favourite drink made by a team of expert baristas and head to class, work or wherever they are going on time.
“We have completely changed the style. It’s very modern and relaxing and we’re so excited about the drive-thru concept that we are introducing a new drink to celebrate its opening.”
Barista of the Year 2012 Ishan Sameera led a short introduction to Costa Coffee’s latest taste sensation. Showing members of the media, Jawad Business Group officials and VIP guests the choices available, he created the new signature Classic Corto.
“Corto is Spanish for short, so this new drink is a short coffee ... but with a tall taste,” said Mr Sameera. “The secret behind the strong flavour is extracting the coffee beans for just 10 seconds and then adding textured milk to the cup.”
The Classic Corto costs BD1.300 and the Mocha Corto is BD1.400. A Black Corto is also available for BD1.200.
Costa Coffee general manager, Ali Mansoor, said: “The new drive-thru concept demonstrates how Costa is constantly evolving to meet the changing needs of our customers and we are delighted to deliver an unbeatable coffee shop experience to customers in Bahrain.”
There are a wide variety of hot and cold drinks available along with freshly-baked pastries, muffins, cakes and savoury food options. Costa Coffee is open 24 hours.
