Now that Jimmy Fallon is reportedly being groomed to take over Jay Leno’s coveted Tonight Show hosting gig, the NBC network has been reportedly courting potential Late Night replacements … and it looks like Howard Stern might be filling the spot.

The iconic, radio ‘shock jock’, 59, is apparently one of the biggest contenders for the position.

According to a source who knows him well, Stern is being ‘groomed’ to take over the Late Night spot. His surprise tapping as a judge on America’s Got Talent has proven that the controversial broadcaster could be palatable for audiences beyond his radio show, and the sources say that network executives are interested in trying the veteran radio host in Late Night.

The America’s Got Talent judge does have previous TV experience on The Howard Stern Show, which aired from 1990 to 1992, and E! also featured a televised version of his radio show for more than 11 years.

As an outspoken critic of Jay Leno, Stern may take joy in being a part of the Late Night rumour wagon that could embarrass the longtime Tonight Show host.

Additionally, Fallon’s move to the Tonight Show would be largely the result of competing with the younger Jimmy Kimmel, who recently moved too.

Late Night With Jimmy Fallon airs everyday at 5pm on OSN Comedy HD.
