Gulf Weekly Dinner for a Dinar

On my trip to Macro Mart in Riffa I overheard a customer asking the staff about the supermarket’s ‘special combo dinner’.

Not only did the man behind the kitchen section tell the shopper that the dinner box can feed up to two people, but he also mentioned that customers can devour the dinner for just a dinar.

He also mentioned how the food is cooked on a daily basis and the menu is changed regularly to avoid shoppers complaining about a lack of variety.

Typically, the dinner comes with a main option between Chinese, Arabic and Indian food, mainly chicken makhani, biriyani, chicken fried rice and grilled chicken and beef with hummous.

Every meal consists of a salad, a type of chutney (yoghurt, mango or garlic) and one extra side dish of choice … all, I repeat, for just BD1.
