In preparation for the 2013 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, Batelco has implemented 4G LTE at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir, writes Mai Al Khatib.

The telecommunication company is providing the ‘ultimate mobile experience’ with superfast download speeds to race fans attending Formula One.

Media and guests were invited to test out the technology at a press conference staged at the BIC.

Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa, BIC’s chief executive officer said, “By being able to provide superfast 4G LTE to visitors, Bahrain’s International Circuit becomes the first International Racing Circuit in the Middle East to offer permanent 4G LTE technology. This meets with our commitment to be amongst the top venues when it comes to quality of services provided.”

Fourth Generation, otherwise known as 4G, is a wireless technology that’s designed to reduce the time it takes to transfer and receive data online. Long Term Evolution (LTE) ensures instant access, streaming without buffering, enhanced online gaming as well as faster downloads.

Batelco Bahrain chief executive officer Rashid Abdulla said: “Batelco, which is a proud partner of BIC, has been delivering integrated communication services for the circuit and annual grand prix since the beginning. Each year we raise the bar to ensure that our delivery matches or surpasses the services available at other leading circuits.”
