Thousands of Veronica Mars fans have rallied to jointly fund a project to take the cult TV show to the big-screen.
The campaign began on Kickstarter, one of the world’s largest funding platforms for creative projects.
Not only did the campaign reach its $2 million goal, hitting the $1m mark within hours of its launch, pledges amounted to more than $3.3m.
The show’s creator Rob Thomas was behind the project, which included support from actress Kristen Bell, who played the leading role in the TV series.
Veronica Mars ended its run on the CW Television Network in 2007. While it was never a ratings hit, a huge cult fan base gathered around the show, which was about a high school student turned detective who tried to uncover secrets in her town.
