A yacht is a luxury that very few people can enjoy and buying one is often seen as a marker that you’ve ‘made it’ in life.
Obviously, they are extremely expensive and can cost thousands, if not millions, of dinars.
While these palatial marvels of the sea are definitely out of my price range (I can’t even afford a dingy), they are often used by celebrities and socialites alike for lavish parties and exotic getaways.
Personally, I used to think that yachts were ostentatious, but all that changed after taking a tour of the Akhir 90, right, a crown jewel in the Behnemar Yachting catalogue.
This swanky and luxurious vessel can accommodate eight people and an amazing experience awaits as soon as you climb aboard the lower decking area, which is adorned with chairs to sit and admire the view.
As I approached the automatic doors I felt like I’d stepped inside a classy hotel rather than a boat. The living area boasted large comfortable sofas and a full-sized dinning table perfect for entertaining guests.
As I descended into the hull I was taken aback by the rooms, which were just what you’d expect from a boat that costs a cool BD3.8 million.
The owner’s cabin, below left, features a double bed and flat screen TV mounted to the wall and there is a large ensuite bathroom too. The VIP cabin is just as classy and consists of more of the same.
There are smaller guest rooms, which, although cramped, are still nicer than many hotels I’ve visited over the years.
There is also a fully-fitted kitchen and the upper deck includes another outside lounge area near the control room.
I was told that one of the best options is to share the cost of a yacht with some of your friends, family, or colleagues … I’ll be passing a hat around the office and dinner table, but something tells me I’ll still come up short and better take another look at that dingy.
