Heartthrob Ryan Gosling is giving fluttering hearts a bit of a breather by stepping away from acting for a while.
The 32-year-old, who started performing when he was eight, revealed he wants to ‘lay low’ for a while and is moving behind the camera to try his hand at directing with his fantasy drama How To Catch a Monster.
“I’ve lost perspective on what I’m doing,” said the star. “I think it’s good for me to take a break and reassess why I’m doing it and how I’m doing it. I think this is probably a good way to learn about that.”
In an effort to help soften the blow for his fans, a British video-on-demand service called Blinkbox has opened up ‘The Gosline’ – a 24-hour hotline that fans can call to hear clips of the actor’s soothing voice in films like The Notebook, Gangster Squad and Drive.
Gosling will star in The Place Beyond The Pines, which hits theatres on April 12 in the US.
