An artful combination of high-performance motorsport and rare art will be on show with the unveiling of the Porsche Coleccion Gomez exhibition at the 2013 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.

The one-of-a-kind South American collection at the Sakhir circuit is comprised of tasteful designs that have all been painted on the bonnets of Porsche 911 GT2 supercars.

The exhibition was the brainchild of Argentinian Jorge Gómez who commissioned and created the collection when he decided to combine his two greatest passions, linking two fascinating art forms in the process.

Porsche Coleccion Gomez features work from 19 celebrated artists from Uruguay and Argentina, including Pablo Atchugarry, Rogelio Polesello and Jorge Ferreyra Basso, who all relished the opportunity to leave their creative mark on a sleek Porsche bonnet.

The works have been created using varied styles and materials ranging from acrylic to enamel and from mosaic tiles to tyre rubber. When they aren’t on display, Gomez occasionally has them fitted back onto his own Porsche 911 GT2 and hitting the road.

The collection made its debut at the Porsche Museum in Europe and is now touring the globe. It will feature in an exhibition tent as one of the sideline attractions that have been planned at the Sakhir race this coming weekend.
