Vibrant floral prints, sizzling hot pants and long, flowy dresses were the top three racy summer styles showcased at this year’s Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.

As Formula One drivers dashed around Bahrain International Circuit’s track in Sakhir, elegantly dressed ladies and sharp-looking men strutted around the venue dressed to impress.

Men wore their team colours proudly with Bermuda shorts or denim, but it was the women that put on a show layered from head-to-toe in designer brands. Teenagers displayed their pins in Daisy Duke denim shorts, printed T-shirts or loose flouncy tops matching their trainers or flip-flops.

Leggings were also popular in solid black or patterned tights complimented by large blouses. However, the look-to-steal was long maxi dresses full of colour, just like the mullet dress Jess Page wore.

The 31-year-old Briton, a human resources employee, kept cool in a strapless flowing, floral-printed dress from Debenhams with a ‘hi-low’ hemline which allowed her to show-off her legs from the front while being demure from the back.

Miss Page said: “I was flown in by my boyfriend, who works for McLaren electronics, to visit Bahrain and enjoy the Formula One weekend.

“I loved the fashion in the vending area. There were some really pretty outfits and I noticed that no women were wearing heels for a change as flip flops and flats were definitely the way to go. The women and men here are stylish.”

Sophie Nicole Stanfield, 27, a sports marketing and PR consultant for Rolex, from the UK, added: “The ladies were looking lovely and elegant. The long flouncy skirts and dresses were full of colour and vibrant. Considering the hot, humid conditions and how everyone had to be respectful of the country, long skirts worked well.”

Miss Stanfield looked sophisticated and smart in a striped knee-high Banana Republic dress, sandals from Accessories and carrying a Mulberry bag.

It’s obvious that the maxi dress trend was a grand prix favourite as it looked fabulous on F1 business tycoon Bernie Ecclestone’s wife, Fabiana Flosi as she strolled around the paddock area.

It is also a signature look for many of the drivers’ celebrity WAGs (wives and girlfriends). Nicole Scherzinger, F1 driver Lewis Hamilton’s pop star girlfriend was spotted walking around at the Malaysian Grand Prix in a bright orange dress, below right, that featured a racetrack style chevron on the back of it.
