MORE than 300 students from schools around Bahrain took part in an annual music festival hosted by St Christopher’s School.
The event, organised by the school’s head of music Ken Haggerty, took place at two venues- St Christopher’s Isa Town campus and St Christopher’s, Saar, culminating in the fnal at Saar.
Students, aged seven to 18, displayed their musical prowess competing in various categories.
Solo fnalists included fute, voice, piano, clarinet, trombone and violin. Ensemble fnalists included string, guitar, brass, cello and rock groups and choral fnalists included a range of pieces from The Roses (Yale Song Book) to Run (Leona Lewis).
The participating schools were Abdul Rahman Kanoo International School, Al Hekma International School, AMA International School, Amna Bint Wahab School, British School of Bahrain, Hidd Secondary
Girls’ School, Ibn Khuldoon International School, Japanese School, Nadeen International School, New Millennium School, Sacred Heart School and St Christopher’s School.
The Grand Final adjudicator, Alberto Sorrentino, from Doha College, addressed the participants thanking them for their hard work and efforts and encouraged all musicians to keep going, even when the going gets tough, because musical accomplishment is ‘very rewarding’.
