THE gymnasts from CHAOSS in Saar are captured here lining up for a squad photograph before departing tomorrow to take part in an international competition in Dubai this weekend.
The squad of 19, made up of 16 girls and three boys (one of the competitors was missing from the photocall), ranging in age from seven to 14, hope to make Bahrain proud and return with a medals haul.
The coaches attending are Debbie Payne, Cara Mattias, Simona Klatourova and Matt Brant, a guest coach from the British School of Bahrain (BSB). The squad would like to thank parents, supporters and sponsors, Reza Hygiene, Majaal, Paxton Co, Seef Dental and Alosra supermarket, for helping to make the trip possible.
The sport will get a further boost this month. The BSB Gymnastics Academy will be hosting the island’s first Bahrain Recreational Gymnastics competition.
This competition is open to children from four to 15 in both novice and intermediate categories.
“This is an amazing opportunity for gymnasts from all over Bahrain to showcase their talent and participate in their respective levels,” said Brant, competition organiser and gymnastics director. “Spectators are welcome and we would like to invite you all to visit and support our gymnasts at any time during the day.”
The competition will run from 9.30am to 6.30pm on June 14 and will take place in the BSB sports hall. For more information email gymnastics@thebsbh.com
