An appreciation lunch was held at Upstairs Downstairs Restaurant in Adliya by the American Women’s Association (AWA). The invitees were executive committee members, committee chairpersons and activity chairpersons.

AWA truly appreciates their time, effort and dedication over the past year. It is because of their collective efforts that the association is able to adhere to the three simple principles set forth by the founders almost 39 years ago: charity, friendship, and cultural understanding, serving AWA members and the Bahraini community.

A special recognition was held for members leaving the island to different destinations, some back to the US, Kazakhstan, Holland, England and Qatar.

AWA media  liaison officer.

Bahrain Girl Scout Troops 904 and 905 successfully completed their community service projects in May. The cadette and senior Girl Scouts (comprised of 6th through 10th grade girls) presented Tom Kirby and Frank McGarry of the Ecumenical Conference on Charity (ECC) with a check for $400.

In addition to over 150 hours of service work spent on fundraising, the troops also donated items to the ECC Charity Centre (a thrift shop).

The ECC assists the needy in Bahrain who require the most basic of assistance - a direct tie-in with the girls’ chosen theme to ‘eliminate poverty’.

Jennifer Lucas,  mother of one of the cadettes and
Girl Scout Leader  for 2013-2014
