Gulf Weekly Impressive Musbah is crowned champion

Bahraini Salah Musbah was crowned TaylorMade Summer Open Champion 2013 at the Royal Golf Club (RGC) after achieving an impressive 36 points on the club’s Montgomerie championship course. 

Musbah mixed five nett birdies with three bogies and a double on his way to claiming the category one title, finishing two points clear of runner-up Jason Smith, who finished on 34 points. 
Youngster Ilya Goniker claimed the best gross score of the competition with a five over par 77, defeating Fahad Al Hakam on a back nine countback.

The individual stableford competition, sponsored for the second consecutive year by TaylorMade, attracted more than 100 players. 

The event compromised three categories – the first one for players with handicaps of 0 to 9, category two for those with a handicap of between 10 and 19, and category three for those from 20 - 36. 

Ian Robson narrowly clinched the category two title with a return of 35 points, edging Tony Bridgens into second place on 34 points. Robert Addison finished on top in the third category after firing the only sub par score of the day, finishing with 37 points, while Valerie Lim claimed second place with 35 points, beating Dena Wales on countback.

Results: Category I (1 – 9): 1st Salah Musbah (36 points), 2nd Jason Smith (34 c/b). Category 2 (10 - 18): 1st Ian Robson (35), 2nd Tony Bridgens (34 c/b), Category 3 (19 - 28/36): 1st Robert Addison (37), Valerie Lim (35 c/b). Best Gross: Ilya Goniker (77 c/b).
