THE new Lexus IS range has been unveiled at a ceremony in the Lexus Showroom in Sitra by the distributor of Toyota and Lexus in Bahrain, Ebrahim K. Kanoo.
The launch took place in the presence of the company’s management, Lexus owners and members of the media.
Junichi Furuyama, IS chief engineer, said: “We specifically made driving pleasure the major premise behind all aspects of performance.
“The engineers really did a great job as the new IS handles better under all conditions. The car is a true extension of its driver.”
The new model is aggressive and attention-grabbing and provides a dynamic driving experience, the company says.
Its interior is just as sleek and visual clutter has been done away with, allowing drivers better situational awareness and control.
The IS 350 offers s a 3.5 litre V6 engine with direct fuel injection to produce 312bhp. The IS 250 is powered by a smooth 2.5-litre V6 providing 204bhp. The 8-speed Sport Direct Shift automatic transmission features paddle shifters and G-force Artificial Intelligence.
The F Sport grade redefines the concept of the modern luxury sport sedan, its makers say.
Interior trim detailing includes an F SPORT steering wheel and shift knob, aluminum pedals and scuff plates with the Lexus logo. Both the front and rear suspension systems and the Electric Power Steering are exclusively tuned.
