Market 338 returns to Adliya daily from November 28 to December 14, 2013, with a special focus on Bahrain circa-1950s.
The third edition of Market 338 is set to take us back in time, to an earlier moment in the Gulf’s modern history, just before we bid farewell to our pearl divers, fishermen and local crafts and welcomed bankers, businessmen and mass-made products from Asia.
Designing a market inspired by the prevalent trends and practices of the mid-20th Century-era, this year’s edition will be dedicated to exploring the rich legacy of Bahrain’s recent history and the Gulf region more broadly.
A strategic platform for the promotion and dissemination of design culture in the area, Market 338 features an expanding line-up of local and regional designers.
More than just a marketplace for excellent design, Market 338 is a local hot spot, offering live music performances, designer-talks and workshops that reflect on current topics of contemporary design and its related disciplines.
Market 338 attracts upward of 5,000 visitors. Design areas include fashion, jewellery and accessories, glass, ceramics, furniture and more.
Designers seeking to secure a booth can find full registration information at www.alriwaqartspace.com
Registration is now open for professional development workshops in advance of the Market. These training opportunities offered by Al Riwaq Art Space are aimed at encouraging creative growth and giving hidden Bahraini talents the opportunity to shine.
This year’s workshops are led by internationally-renown artists and outstanding designers and include fashion design led by Saudi designer Razan Alazzouni, fashion photography by Jose Morraja, styling Leticia Orue, poster design with Ion De La Rocha and marketing and social media offered by Luma Bashmi.
