Throughout last season Awali Golf Club ran a Captain’s Charity with the funds coming from a variety of playing groups within the club and also via BD1 donations for entering the course water hazards.
Without wishing to denigrate the club members’ playing standards, a very healthy BD1,000 was raised.
Last season’s Captain Andy McAlpine chose to divide the money between two charities. He explained that his choice of RIA School and The Mission to Seafarers was because they rely solely on charitable donations and are not funded by any government or non-government organization.
