Why do we all gravitate to babies? Charles Darwin, our favourite evolutionist, originally theorised that there are specific qualities in infants which prompt adults to respond and nurture them in order for our human species to survive.

The specific structure of the infant face, large head and forehead, large and low lying eyes and bulging cheeks are the classic characteristics that cause all of us to become mushy and make the strangest noises when we are close to them; ‘goo goo, gaa gaa,’ anyone?

If you are looking for clothing for your baby check out Kair which offers comfortable, stylish, eco-friendly children’s clothing for boys and girls aged 0-12 years. They use only the softest, most durable and highest quality cotton for their products. Right now they have a 25 to 75 per cent off sale.

There are baby gift sets with full layette down to BD13.500 from BD18.000. You can also find onesies down to BD1.800 from BD2.500, hats, booties and sleepers for baby girls and boys in pink, white and blue.

The quality of the clothing is great and you can find anything for an infant or child. They have sections for boys 0-36 months and three to 10 years with colourful sweaters, long-sleeve striped shirts, warm trousers and cargo pants for this cooler season.

The girls section was full of frilly dresses, tights, sweaters and T-shirts. I noticed a cute red striped dress with a bow down to BD4.950 from BD6.600. A purple dress with frilly sleeves with matching bottom was down to BD6 from BD8. Having boys myself, I noticed the clothing for little girls appeared to be a lot more exciting.

For those looking for gifts or for their own children, Mamas & Papas are holding a ‘buy 3 for the price of 2’ promotion until December 15.

Items start from BD7.900 and the quality is worth it. The materials used in these wee outfits are top notch.

Mamas & Papas started in the UK in the 1980s by David and Luisa Scacchetti after the birth of their daughters Amanda and Olivia. They thought from their own parenting experiences that the market could carry ‘better’, which then led them to be named UK’s number one baby merchandise wholesaler. By the 1990s they grew to be the best baby merchandise retailer and then by 2010 a true international brand.

Your child’s first steps are something you’ll never forget and it pays to make sure they take those steps comfortably and in style. The right shoes help children to balance and you can find a large selection of footwear for 50 per cent off in Shoemart available at all Centrepoint locations.

For BD5.500 down from BD13.900 I saw a cute little pair of boys Velcro boat shoes in white with grey and orange.
For girls, a pink shoe with a strap-adorned with a pink and blue flower matching the embellished toe are down to only BD6.500.

I had two favourite baby booties, the first a pair of moccasin booties with brown fringe and the other was a rose-pink corduroy pair made to look like a smiling mouse face with floral ears. Cute, cute, cute ...

* On a side note:  If you are looking for PE or school shoes you should head over to Shoemart because the 50 per cent off deal applies to those as well. They have a large assortment and it would be wise to grab a couple for next year.
