They say laughter is the shortest distance between two people, how true that is.
The latest Chuckle Club show featured Barbara Nice, Andrew Ryan and Alastair Barrie.
First up was Barbara Nice who took to the stage in character as a middle-aged housewife and mother-of-five from Stockport in Greater Manchester.
Her act featured singing, dancing and interacting with the crowd. Although she literally had the rest of the crowd on their feet at one point, her act just didn’t resonate with me, however, she gets points for originality.
Next up was my favourite performer of the night, Irishman Andrew Ryan who brought ‘the filth’ needed to recapture my attention. He had me in stitches with his blisteringly brilliant take on the classic ‘an Englishman, Irishman and Scotsman walk into a bar’ gag. He was cheeky, charming and mesmerising to watch.
Rounding off the night was Alastair Barrie, whose take on racism was nothing short of amazing. It’s hard to make light of such a serious subject but he managed it with panache and flare. Everyone got made fun of and everybody had a good time, no small feat.
