Gulf Weekly Bill and Ted are set to return for third movie

According to Keanu Reeves, the third installment of his Bill & Ted series is still happening.

The actor told Access Hollywood that the movie is still going to be made, but has a few kinks that need to be worked out. “It needs to be adapted because right now, it would cost $400 million to make,” Reeves said while promoting his new film 47 Ronin, in Japan last week. “Special effects ain’t cheap,” he added.

When asked about the script, Reeves said that it currently involves a cosmic adventure with a variety of ‘creatures’. “There’s a rift in the universe and there’s all sorts of creatures…The script is funny and there’s a story to tell there, so there are efforts being made to try and continue that journey.”

The first film in the franchise, Bill And Ted’s Excellent Adventure followed a pair of metalhead slackers – played by Reeves and Alex Winter – as they travelled through time in a phone booth. The pair reprised their popular roles for a 1991 sequel called Bill And Ted’s Bogus Journey.
