St Christopher’s School golfers were triumphant in a tournament held over two days at Qatar’s Doha College.
The determining factor for the winner of the tournament was the collective stableford scores of the six best results out of eight players on both days.
“I think it’s safe to say that our team excelled once again by obtaining 398 points over the 325 points that Doha College scored,” said golf captain Faris Brough. “The whole team of eight golfers played extremely well and ensured the team’s victory.”
In particular, Ethan Murray performed well over the weekend and earned himself a total of 71 points which not only contributed greatly to the team’s score but earned him the title of overall winner as well.
Murray wasn’t the only one who was on form during the tournament, Harry Bullman was the winner of Division A scoring 70 points. Also, in the same division, runner-up Yaseen le Falher shot a steady two rounds totalling 62.
In division B, David Guinane took control and played an impressive two rounds of 68 points. In the same category, coming third, Lorenzo Fantechi accumulated 59 points.
Alongside the captain, the team was also represented by Andreas Babiolaks and Nayel Al Borshaid who both performed admirably, narrowly missing out on the prizes.
Teachers Hobday and Armstrong also held strong against the Doha College teachers and halved both their matches. “With the exception of the very slow greens, the Doha Course was in great shape which resulted in some superb golf. The course was challenging in parts and rewarding in others but never ceased to test our skills, mine at least,” added Brough.
