The Royal Golf Club’s 2006 Captain Barry Hobday was crowned winner of the club’s 2013 Captains’ Quaich with a score of 35 points.

The annual competition, which sees club captains past and present vying for the illustrious Captains’ Quaich trophy, saw six former captains taking part this year. The event was a closely fought contest with St Christopher’s School’s head of geography Hobday mapping out a route to success and just beating 2004 Captain Arun Varma by a single point.

Quaich is the Gaelic word for a shallow, two-handled bowl, traditionally used for drinking from. They are now used as prizes or gifts and are usually made from silver or pewter.
