Popular band, The Noise, have won the hearts of music-lovers across the kingdom as well as Bahrain International Circuit’s five-day Musical Competition.
The event was staged as part of the inaugural BIC National Day Festival in Sakhir, which was meant to showcase the best of Bahrain.
More than 28,000 people attended the jubilee celebrations, held under the patronage of His Majesty the King’s Personal Representative, Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, featuring the competition as well as various activities, entertainment and the display of Bahraini culture. The contest featured 18 bands battling for the title and cash prizes.
The Noise band leader, Josephine Ellul, said: “It was nerve-racking entering the BIC band competition after winning the BMMI Battle of the Bands last year. It’s like boxers having to retain their title. But, as we say, you are only as good as your last gig. Or in this case, competition!
“For us, it was all about getting involved with the community. Bahrain has been our home for two years and the people have welcomed us with open arms and hearts. That is why we wore flag outfits in the final to celebrate Bahrain’s National Day.
“We did not expect to win after listening to the other bands. There is so much talent on the island and we are truly humbled to take part in such an event. The BIC is an amazing venue with such a fantastic team.”
The Noise’s stellar performance and eclectic set list secured them the win and BD3,000 cash prize.
Mohammed Zuwayed Band were the runners-up, clinching BD2,000, while Alegria took third place and a cash prize of BD1,000.
Bahraini artist Khaled Fouad serenaded the crowd as part of the festivities, followed by a spectacular fireworks show.
