No resolutions for New Year

Normally, I would set out to make a long list of what I want to achieve the coming year, but this year I got a bit confused.

With all the talk about the ‘power of now’ I have been trying very hard to stay in the moment and be present.

Then I thought, what if my only goal for this coming year is to stay in the present moment. Nothing else.

The theory is that once you’re in the present moment, then you are more in line with the higher source, and also more connected with who you really are.

The more you are present, the easier it will be for you to listen once you get the answer to your purpose in life.
We are so busy planning our lives and writing out to-do lists that we wouldn’t notice our purpose even if it hit us in the face.

In fact, it is said that depression comes from living in the past; and anxiety comes from living in the future. But in the present moment, things just are.

Sometimes we create goals for the year and then spend the rest of the year stressing ourselves out in the process of pursuing them, or feeling guilty for having failed.

Does that mean you can’t plan? Of course not. Plan yes, but be flexible with what happens if your plans don’t go according to plan. Listen carefully because maybe the universe has other plans for you that you weren’t aware of. Just maybe.

So this year I’m doing something completely different. I am planning nothing for 2014. What I will do is spend more time searching for my inner stillness. Apparently, once you find that, then it becomes very clear to you what you need to do in life. And once you figure that out, your tasks (and even your job) stops requiring so much effort. You do less but achieve more. Wouldn’t that be nice?

Something to think about. I’m happy to try it out. Joining me?
