A wide and roomy model

Chinese automaker Chery unveiled its new E5 model at the recent Bahrain International Motor Show.
 
Bijan Majidi, general manger of Motorcity, said: “The E5 is the all new generation Chery mid-sized sedan that maximises handling and comfort and is equipped with a high performance engine. It is one of the widest and roomiest car in its category and has innovative active embedded safety and security systems. The new E5 will be offered with five years or 150,000km warranty with a starting price of BD4,300.”

The new model is equipped with advanced technological applications. Its spacious passenger compartment offers comfort in a quiet environment.

The chassis of the E5 is tuned by Lotus, the British manufacturer of sports and racing cars. The infotainment boasts CD, MP3/USB ports with four speakers.

Under the bonnet is a high-performance 1.8-litre, 132bhp powertrain paired with a CVT transmission. The multi-award winning ACTECO engine, jointly developed by Chery and AVL, Austria, has also passed a three million kilometre road test and 10,000 hours tough bench test following European and American standards.

Its German Continental Teves, Anti-locking Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution System (EBD) braking control system can prevent wheel-locking, shortening the braking distance and enhancing the vehicle stability. The car is also equipped with rear parking sensors.

A metal cage with high strength steel beams in the front and back, anti-collision board in the front doors and steel bars in the rear doors are designed to absorb the force of the impact during collision and offer maximum protection to the driver and passengers.

The sporty look of the car is highlighted by the chrome front grille with simple lines, colour integrated bumper and electric power rear view mirrors, eagle eye-shaped crystal lamps and seven spoke 15-inch alloy wheel hubs with sharp lines.

Ergonomically designed four-way adjustable seats made with fine leather, vent-holes and contoured sides provide lumbar, back and leg support.

The fold-in rear seats provide large flat space for additional storage.
