The Moonlight Trading Company is sharing its love for Turkish delights with the kingdom, making sure residents can get their hands on the heavenly sweet.
The delicious treats, known as Lokum, are made from starch and sweetened with sugar water. It is one of the oldest sweets in the world containing flavours such as lemon or rose water, diced and dusted with powdered sugar or coconut chips.
Moonlight Trading Company is distributing the Esra Lokum Turkish Delight brand, established in 1993 in Turkey, to all supermarkets and hypermarkets on the island.
A spokesperson said: “Turkish delight has become a well-recognised product and a desirable item on the shelves. It is usually found among the chocolate and candy products and sells well. It has good lasting qualities, both in winter and summer. The product melts in the mouth, tastes wonderful and is easily digested.”
Turkish delight is believed to help with hypertension and an increased content of cholesterol in the body. It is high in glucose, which supports the functions of the heart and improves the functioning of the brain.
One of its key benefits is its carbohydrates. Patients suffering from kidney disorders are recommended to consume Turkish delight to dispose uric acid and excess keratin that builds up in foods high in protein and are taken into the system.
Now Esra Lokum produces various weights, starting from 75g up to 5kg.
