Starting a fitness regime can take a lot of self-convincing and will power probably after weeks or months of procrastination. The solution is to have the right athletic gear ready and waiting so there are no excuses and all you need to do is jump into the frock and free those endorphins.
My goal, with the help of fashion blogger and fitness guru Shabana Feroze, is to help GulfWeekly readers find fitness items at a fantastic price.
Shabana first led me into Centrepoint to a branded section called Kappa. She informed me that a lot of the ladies in her classes wear the Kappa brand because of price, fashion and quality.
A rack full of hoodies in white, black, grey, hot pink and various ice cream colours caught my eye first. You can find matching sweat pants perfect for walking or jogging in cooler weather or to throw on after a workout.
Shabana’s pick was a pink tank with built-in support for only BD5.500 and a grey cotton tank with a full built-in brassiere for BD12.
Long cotton leggings that can be worn to yoga, running or any other free moving sport are sold for BD8.500 in various styles and colours. I like to wear these on the weekend when playing football with the boys or running errands. My fitness pick was a hot pink and black tank for BD7 that is loose around the midriff and can be tightened around the hips making it perfect for yoga, palettes, or any other fitness class where you are bending in awkward positions or contorting yourself to the point where gravity will prevail.
I also loved that the material boasted bacterial protection and quick dry technology. Whatever works to wick away the sweat is always a good thing. For those that dare to be dashing on the court for only BD8.500 you can grab an adorable black and white cotton tennis skirt-dress.
Our next stop was H&M, which also has a fabulous sport section. Between BD7-10 you can pick from its new collection of hoodies or sweat pants in dark or light grey, burgundy, black, dark blue or rose pink. They looked super comfy and were selling for both men and women. The men’s hoodies are sold in more masculine colours like teal, army green and various shades of grey. Tanks, capris, shorts and leggings have a separate section starting at BD10. One must keep in mind that fitted clothing will provide a better ease of movement and will not catch on sport equipment.
Our third and final stop was Debenham’s sport section selling a brand name called Pineapple, by Debbie Moore. These items were a bit pricier but you can tell the quality is superb. Shabana mentioned that it regularly holds a sale, a perfect time to visit.
Pineapple has five different fits of black leggings in capri, bootcut, slim, slouch or kickflare starting at only BD9 that can tailor to any body type.
