Detox is ... juice fasting

When I tell people that I’m going on a juice fast retreat, they ask me: “Why are you doing it, surely you don’t have any toxins since you eat so healthy; and you don’t need to lose weight!”

We easily forget that cleansing the body of toxins does not only apply to the toxins that we have accumulated yesterday or the day before. We are talking about old toxins that have been sitting in the body for years and might be now delaying it from reaching optimum health.

All the junk food, the fizzy drinks and French fries that we have consumed over a lifetime; all the toxins from pollution, preservatives, food additives, and smoke; all the medication that we have taken in our life...

All these things need to be cleansed so your body can have a healthy start. And juice fasting is one of the best methods for detox but of course you have to do it under expert supervision to avoid any side-effects.

But why just juices and drinks? Because we have to clean out the digestive system and repair the other organs. And in order to clean it, we must first shut down the digestive system. So drinking just juices (without food) helps give the body a break from digestion and lets it concentrate on cleansing.

At the same time we can’t just drink water; the juices give you energy and readily available nutrients that your body can easily absorb and utilise without too much effort.

What is detox? Detox is letting juice fasting help you clean out years worth of toxins.
