THIS highly-anticipated Expat League match between Arabian Celts and Environment Arabia BC (EABC) got underway just before 8pm after referee, Pete Hunt, was caught up in traffic congestion.
EABC’s decision to man-mark Celts star man, Tim Backhouse, backfired as he dropped into a deeper role and conducted proceedings from there. Celts were without doubt on top for large periods of the first half and their dominance finally broke the deadlock with a well worked team goal.
EABC came into this match on a string of poor results, re-grouped and managed to get to half-time level with a great individual goal from their own star man, Nizam Abdul Jabbar.
A tactical re-shuffle by EABC resulted in a much more even second half, with both teams creating chances, only to find both goal keepers in irresistible form.
With virtually the last kick of the game, EABC’s determination finally paid dividends as the outstanding Jabbar scored his second to finally end the contest and give EABC a much-needed victory.
