Entrepreneur Simon Capreis is hoping to win over the hearts of race fans with the launch of a new motor sport app.
Capreis Sports is a new skill-based fantasy contest, where, he says, die-hard Formula One enthusiasts will be able to pit their knowledge and skill of the sport against each other.
Players will be able to download the app on to a smartphone or tablet now that the green light has been received from the Apple and Android app stores.
Mr Capreis, 47, a global leader in the online entertainment industry, said: “I have spent several years wanting to build a sports product that allowed players to really be involved in their favourite sport, a game that allowed them to prove they were right!
“Formula One is the first sport we will be going live with, there after we will be publishing sports contests for North American football and soccer.
“We have now been approved for the app store and will be launching for the Bahrain Grand Prix.
“I plan on taking on the conventional gaming market with this product.”
The company to date has been funded by its founder; however, a second round of funding is due to take place over the next few months.
Mr Capreis, a father-of-three, lives in the UK but is looking at the possibility of relocating to the Gulf after falling under the spell of Bahrain during a recent visit to attend the F1 pre-season testing staged in the kingdom.
“My passion outside of my family life is Formula 1 and to create a product that allows me to mix my business live and my passion together makes me a very lucky person,” he said.
He says Capreis Sports will be allowed to use drivers and team names under license.
“Every race weekend from the first practice session to the start of the race there are live contests as well as contests that run though the entire season,” he explained.
“To play Capreis Sports you must know the sport and follow the drivers’ trends and car performances. Other players and their knowledge of the sport will challenge your knowledge on the statistics. Never before has a game of skill and knowledge given the Formula One fan the opportunity to prove he is the champion.
“Track your gameplay and rankings in real time, add plays when needed and accept challenges from other players when you think they are wrong. Creating outcomes using our advanced data selection technology couldn’t be easier.”
