Poor Bahrain has missed out on the entertainment front again. A gall bladder operation put paid to DJ Avicii’s planned appearance at the BIC and boxer Joe Calzaghe’s ‘unforseen circumstances’ meant he missed a date at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel.
Then, last week, the fighter’s substitute Stuart Pearce accepted the Nottingham Forest’s manager’s job and had to cancel his appearance in Bahrain. It was too late to find another replacement, the organisers said.
However, they say they remain ‘full steam ahead’ on plans for our World Cup England v Germany Special featuring Chris Waddle (who only misses penalties, apparently) and Didi Hamann, on June 5, in Bahrain. A date to pencil in, perhaps?
