Gulf Weekly Trolley race winners go home satisfied

‘On your mark, get set, shop’ were the words shouted before excited teams embarked on the first ever F1-inspired trolley race held at Carrefour in Bahrain City Centre.

Teams of two competed in each slot with five races held over two days last week.
Participants had a minute to scan a shopping list of 20 items before the start of the event. They would then carry the list with them as they matched items and placed them in the trolley before heading to the finish line.
The task had to be completed in less than 10 minutes. Only one team was disqualified for running over time.
Entries were compiled from random participants who applied at the mall. The planning team then narrowed it down to friend and family pairs in order to promote a strong team ethic.
The husband-and-wife team of Santhia Sukumar and Ashwath Mohandas grabbed the most items with 16 out of the 20 in the allotted time.
Like a typical husband and wife shopping excursion he pushed the trolley while she directed the mission.
The race was a lot of fun and was the first of its kind.
Trophies were awarded to each winning team of all 10 races which also included BD50 Bahrain City Centre vouchers and two passes for last weekend’s big race.
